Atragon - Squirm
I love Kaiju movies. And Atragon is a colorway named after one of my favorites from Toho studio's in Japan. It features a lost civilization from below the sea and their pet monster who want to claim earth as their own.
This one of our 'half dunk' colorways. Which means that the 2 ends of the skein have a distinctly different color, with the colors meeting up in the middle. This yarn will pool / flash depending on how this colorway is knitted up. For sock knitters: you will probably get a spiral or staggered lines out of this yarn.
This listing is for 1 skein of yarn. Photo of multiple skeins shows comparison between yarn bases and/or skeins.
Colors may slightly vary on every monitor due to settings. This means that the color may differ a little bit in real life from what you see on screen.
Squirm is our favorite yarn base when it comes to bouncy, soft, squishy yarn. The blend of 80% extra fine merino and 20% nylon makes it next to skin soft and sturdy enough to withstand a good amount of wear. Perfect for cozy warm garments, shawls and socks.
Especially with speckled colorways, and some variegated ones, Squirm tends to have an uneven covering of speckles when balled and going from the outside to the inside of the ball. This is a result of the yarn being spun high twist and it's impossible to reach all the way through the skein with powdered dyes because it is that thick. This may result in the first sock you knit (of a set) to have more speckles than the second one. In garments, it may give you a slight gradient effect.
If you do not want this effect, we advise you to select one of our other yarn bases.
