🧟‍♂️ ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH 🧟‍♂️ Night of the Comet (1984)

🧟‍♂️ ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH 🧟‍♂️ Night of the Comet (1984)

This beauty comes from the 80s and it shows. After a comet wipes out almost all of humanity, 2 valley girls join forces with a stranger to dodge both zombies and mad scientists. It’s a sad apocalyptic tale with enough humor spiced in to make the movie more of a comedy than a horror movie. This one is one of my guilty pleasures and I rewatch it at least once a year.

Zombie Type: Risen/Celestial Magic

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH🧟 - Warm Bodies (2013)

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH🧟 - Warm Bodies (2013)

Time for another romantic zombie movie with comedic elements.
R, played by Nicholas Hoult, is a zombie, shambling his life away with his best zombie pal M.  They have a pretty monotonous thing going on, until R meets Julie, a still living girl that he feels a connection to.
The reason I like this movie (besides being a closet romantic) is the writing of R's internal dialogue. Here are the first lines you hear in the movie:
[voice-over] What am I doing with my life? I'm so pale. I should get out more. I should eat better. My...

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH🧟 - Night of the Living Dead (1968)

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH🧟 - Night of the Living Dead (1968)

A lot of the films that I've been giving shout outs to this month have this (by now over 50 years old!) classic to thank.
In '68 George Romero set out to make a zombie movie, which would deal with many themes that are still (unfortunately) relevant today.  Duane Jones plays the main character, Ben. Romero stated that Jones' race did not play a part in him getting the role, but he simple delivered the best audition for the part. Even so, Ben being of a different race than the rest of the cast plays a big role in the...

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH🧟 - The Battery (2012)

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH🧟 - The Battery (2012)

Anyone who knows me, knows that if they ask me 'which movie should I watch' I will, without hesitation, name The Battery first. This micro-budget zombie movie (it was made with around $ 6000,-) is dear to my heart ever since I saw it, and met the makers during Imagine Film Festival in 2012.

The story revolves around Ben & Mickey, two former baseball players trying to survive after the zombie apocalypse. In this movie the zombies don't fill the bulk of the movie. The isolation and desperation of both Ben and Mickey does. With few...

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH 🧟 - Black Sheep (2006)

🧟 ZOMBIE AWARENESS MONTH 🧟 - Black Sheep (2006)

Let's be honest, you knew this one was coming right? ⠀
In a small New Zealand community sheep farmers are shook up by some brutal killings. Turns out someone has been experimenting on the fluffy white friends and the sheep are turning into zombies.⠀ ⠀
This comedic horror movie cracked me up because it's one of those outlandish movies that takes a ridiculous premise and manages to put it to film pretty well. The effects are creepy and well...
